The shuttlecraft influence is obvious, and yet unique enough. Are those five circles on the pods thrusters? I'd expect more of a gravimetric propulsion, as opposed to something like plasma impulse.

You are correct. The vehicle is electrogravitic. There are no thrusters or plasma or mass reaction drives of any sort. The side pods contain the Zero-point energy, electrogravitic drives, landing gear and life support systems. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the rear of the side pods. The five circles on the rear of each pod are probably part of the electrogravitic drive system and aren't final. I'm going to finish the design this week and do some finished drawings next week. I'm also going to do some interior drawings as well.

Speaking of electrogravitic, aesthetically and technologically speaking, at which point do you think that Starfleet would switch over from fusion-based impulse to electrogravitic ZPE based impulse? I'm asking from an artist's standpoint, since I'm going to be designing 25th century era vessels sooner or later.

It's actually a shame that Star Trek was ahead of it's time. I'd imagine that if Gene Roddenberry thought it were possible, he would have gone with those sorts of propulsion systems by the TNG. Why not, since we allegedly already have them?
