Description
I uploaded this drawing (that I did a long time ago) last week, but the scan was a bit overexposed. This is a more accurate version. It is a drawing of an Me 109 which was brought down over England in the summer of 1940 during the battle of Britain. The Battle of Britain was the Nazis first real defeat of the war. The secret to the RAF's success was Air marshal Sir Hugh Dowding, and Sir Keith Park (from New Zealand). Their tactic of using a secret technology called radar enabled the RAF to use the relatively low number of fighters and pilots they did have, in a profoundly efficient and effective manner to defeat the masses of German bombers attacking Britain. Incidentally, Sir Hugh Dowding has never been honored with a statue by the British government and he was one of the original crazies who thought that the UFOs that were being reported by pilots were ET in nature. I know from personal experience that he was not crazy.

What gets me was his foresight in insisting that all, say again, all fighter squadrons be connected by armored phone lines. This was almost beyond prescient. I also believe that "Bomber" Harris was not honored for what he did.
